Between June 1942 and June 1944 John Jarmaine was serving in Africa and later Europe. During this time he wrote regular letters and airgraphs, some containing drafts of his poems, to his wife, Beryl. The letters are now part of the Special Collections of the University of Exeter where a project to transcribe the letters was undertaken in 2021. The transcripts were made available online on the Digital Collections platform in June 2022.
A pdf of the transcript can be found here https://specialcollectionsarchive.exeter.ac.uk/files/original/58a932cff6d335af7a97c75825b49e6b.pdf
Links from the transcript will also lead you to digitised copies of the handwritten letters.
