Cameron Wilson left a reasonably substantial body of work, it is for one poem, <em>Magpies in Picardy<\/em>,\u00a0for which he is especially remembered. He left Oxford without a degree and became a teacher in a preparatory school. He enlisted in August 1914 and obtained a commission in the Sherwood Foresters, reaching the Western Front in February 1916. <em>Magpies in Picardy<\/em> was published in the <em>Westminster Gazette<\/em> on 16 August 1916. He was killed at Hermies in France on 23 March 1918; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial to the Missing.<\/p>\n<h3>T.P.
