Born in Wimbledon in 1895 Robert Graves went to Charterhouse School where he learned to box and to write poetry. His last memory of the school before he left to join up in the Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1914 was his headmaster saying \u2018Well, good-bye, Graves,\u00a0 and remember this, that your best friend is the waste-paper basket.\u2019<\/p>\n
